Vases

When my family sits down to dinner, we almost always have fresh flowers or greenery in a vase on the table. There’s something lovely about inviting the beauty of the outdoors to take a seat with us at our meal.

I make vases of varying sizes, typically with sgraffito carvings of flowers, bees, or birds. To achieve this technique, I apply a terracotta colored underglaze which gets carved away in a woodblock style. My glazes vary, but I love a textural blue glaze that somehow seems to complement every bouquet I’ve ever arranged!
